1:1 in-home occupational therapy

Welcome to Youth in Motion. We provide evidence based, neuro-affirming occupational therapy to help children and teens increase their independence and gain confidence in everyday activities. As a mobile practice serving York Region, we bring care to you, no clinic visit required. Our work centres on three things: individualized in-home care, executive functioning support, and sports-integrated OT programming.

In-home care & assessments

1:1 occupational therapy

  • Focus: functional goals, engagement, and clinical techniques grounded in advanced pediatric training

  • Includes: comprehensive assessments to set goals and determine the right method of care

  • Where: in-home or in-community, across York Region

In-community occupational therapy

Real-world skill application

  • Focus: Building confidence and independence during everyday community activities

  • Examples: Grocery shopping, transit navigation, library visits, parks, and structured outings

  • Where: In-community, across York Region

Approaches used: Biomechanical, Cognitive OT, Neurodevelopmental Therapy, Sensory Integration Therapy

● SPORTS-INTEGRATED PROGRAMMING

Two sports. One clinical goal: real world confidence

Pickle Pals and Hoop Pals are sports based programs where clinical OT goals meet the fun of pickleball and basketball.

Pickleball based OT

  • Focus: motor planning, bilateral coordination, gross motor development and social skills

  • Structure: OT-designed "quests" that keep kids motivated and moving

  • Where: in-community, including local parks or courts

OAP FRIENDLY

Hoop Pals

Basketball based OT

  • Focus: motor planning, bilateral coordination, gross motor development and social skills

  • Structure: OT-designed "quests" that keep kids motivated and moving

  • Where: in-community, including local courts and driveways

● HOW IT WORKS

Same roadmap for both programs, just a different ball. Every kid moves through three stages.

THE FOUNDATION

Comprehensive assessment to determine goals and method of program delivery.

BUILD UPON SKILLS

Gross motor (balance and strength), VMI, (visual motor integration and aiming), motor planning (strategy and sequencing), and social/communication (high fives, turn taking) through therapeutic use of the sport.

THE FINAL LEVEL UP

Re-observation of progress on goals and determination for next steps.
